2009 College World Series – Super Regionals get underway

by Alley on June 6, 2009

Yesterday 4 of the Super Regional games got underway. I would have to say the best played game would have to be that between Virginia and Ole Miss. This game was tied in the bottom of the 9th inning and then Ole Miss finally won it in the 12th by a 4-3 score. Today, they will go to put Virginia out and move forward to Omaha. The game with Rice and LSU went back and forth and showed great offense and not much pitching. With a final score of 12 – 9, LSU took game one. Today they will also make the move to put out Rice and head to Omaha. FSU had a tough time with the Arkansas Razorbacks and dropped game 1 2-7. Today they will be faced with the dubious task of winning if they wish to advance to Omaha. It is a must win situation for the Noles from Tallahassee. The worst game of the day would have to be Louisville against CS Fullerton. Louisville apparently forgot to bring any pitchers or bats as CS Fullerton spanked them badly. Today could see this Louisville team heading to the showers for good.

Other games on tap for today are East Carolina vs North Caolina, Southern Miss vs Florida, Texas vs TCU, and Arizona vs Clemson. All of these games are the first in the 3 ame series.
