Aiken Golf Club – One of the Oldest in The Nation

by Kara on August 4, 2008

Located in the heart of downtown Aiken, South Carolina and built in 1912, this semiprivate, links style 18 hole, par 70 golf course is one of the oldest golf courses in the nation and has features including Bermuda grass and walking paths.

For those that like to see the numbers……this course plays 6,048 yards from the Medal Tees, 5,685 yards from the Mid Tees, and 4,730 yards from the Fore Tees.

The Pro Shop at Aiken Golf Club is fully stocked with everything you need for your day.  Shirts – hats – shoes – clubs – balls…..  if they don’t have it, they can probably special order it for you!

If you need to warm up a bit before your round of play, stop by the practice green and chipping green!  The practice green features the same grass and varied slopes as the course greens, and the chipping green (sand trap and all) allows 360° access and a variety of slopes to chip from.

They’ve got a practice hitting area, too!   Adjacent to the chipping green is a four-station hitting area. And The Club provides practice balls for your convenience.

The Legends Grill is onsite to satisfy your hunger.   Whether you are in the mood for Sunday Brunch, a quick bite before you tee off, or a hearty meal after a tough round……The Legends Grill has got it covered!   You do not have to be a member of the club to enjoy a great meal at The Legends Grill.

Looks like a nice course. I know there are some very challenging courses in South Carolina.

Thanks Rich. We have over 380 golf courses in SC! All of them beautiful…some more challenging than others :) (I prefer the miniature variety, haha)

Kara, South Carolina has some great courses there. Hopefully you will be able to fill us all in on these.
