ALCS Playoffs; Ninth Edition

The Tampa Bay Rays used three long balls in the onslaught of the Boston Red Sox in last nights victory. Fenway Park was rocked to say the least. Evan Longoria hit his 5th dinger of the post season setting a rookie record for the playoffs. After watching this kid, you know he is for real. Joining Evan in the “tater” parade was Carlos Pena and Willy Aybar. For Carlos, his 2 run shot in the first off starter Tim Wakefield would be his second of the playoffs. His first came in game 4. Longoria would hit his in the 1st back to bak with Pena as Aybar’s 2 run shot would come in the 3rd with Carl Crawford on the base pads. Crawford would have his own career night going 5 for 5 and scoring 3 runs while driving in 2 more.

Wakefield would be chased in the 3 after Dioner Navarro would bounce a single off the green monster. Boston would use 5 pitchers to complete the game. On the other hand, the Rays starter Andy Sonnanstine went 7.1 giving up 6 hits. His line was closed out with 3 earned runs out of the 4 that crossed the plate. It would take 2 more pitchers to close it down. The big inning for the Rays would be the 6th when Manny Delcarmen would last just 0.1 of an inning giving up 2 hits and 3 walks. 5 different Rays would cross the plate that inning alone.
