For those of you that are unfamiliar with this series, let me backtrack a little. I want to give you the history of it and where the inspiration came from. 2 Saturday’s ago, I was holding a conversation with Sorin of Online Sports Articles and News over the Net when it dawn on me that I should interview him. I got the idea of promoting other sports bloggers from a group called Hidden Gems in the Rain on ActiveRain Real Estate Network. So, I decided to do it here in Athletic Alley. I really did not expect the participation level that hit my door the first day. With that said, I am happy to help expose some of the great sports blogs around. So, without further ado, let’s get on with this week’s blogger.

I had the pleasure of sitting down with Tyson Chaney a little while back and picking his brain about his website and about him. Tyson not only has his own post that he produces on a regular basis, he also finds time to write for Athletic Alley. If you have not read this Pac-10 fan’s post, you are missing a real treat.
Just so you can get a feel for Tyson, he is getting set to turn 35 in December. He resides in Orange County, California where he has a steady job as a freelance writer who’s working on a novel. In his spare time, he finds the energy to grace us with his talent of writing.
Sports 2000: How to Understand Sports in the Third Millennium is the brain child of Tyson. He wrote his first post on Aug. 19, 2008. That means this site is very new, so lets make sure that we get over and show some love to Tyson. The website is based in Today.com which is great for bloggers as it has some of it’s own followers. Once you read Tyson’s post though, you will be hooked too.
When i asked Tyson about how long his blogging career has been going one, he told me “I’ve blogged off and on for several years. However, I’ve made a concerted effort to make Sports 2000 successful and I’ve been doing better than in the past.” That comment stuck out to me because to be successful in blogging, one has to have a level of commitment. He also told me that his favorite thing about blogging was being able to offer his thoughts and read others’ opinions.
When asked what is your favorite thing about having your own site, he answered “I like being in control. Writing a blog enables me to have some
control, although I must also satisfy my host, Today.com.” I too can attest for having to answer to Today.com because I have my own site over there as well.He went on to add “Each day I watch a sporting event, I see something memorable. Sometimes I watch things that are memorable for a good reason. Sometimes for a bad reason but always memorable.”
I asked him what drew him to create this particular site and I got my answer. He stated “I was reading messages at AbsoluteWrite.com, a site for freelance writers. Today.com advertised paying gigs for bloggers. I submitted my first blog idea, Politics 2000: How to Understand Politics in the New Millennium, and was accepted. Two weeks later, I was invited to start a second blog and I knew right away the topic would be sports.”
That brought me to my last question for Tyson. I asked “Out of all your post, which one performed the best and which one did you personally like the best.” Tyson answered “Funny you should ask. The other day, I added a “Best of Sports 2000″ page which features links to the 10 most-popular posts on the blog. The most-viewed article–Patriots Loss Spells New League Order–is about the New England Patriots’ loss to Miami Sept. 21 and the shift in the balance of power within the National Football League. I like to include a few words about several topics within a post. My favorite post so far is Americans Want the Best in Sport. It’s a no-holds-barred essay about I think sports fans want, which is entertainment and the chance to see the best athletes perform to their highest potential. I don’t think the average fan wants to combine politics or social issues into his or her relaxation time.”
If you have not stopped by his page, take the time. I am sure that you will find him a great read like I did.

This is a great behind the scenes look at a blogger that I am already familiar with. His blogs are diverse and easy to read. I would definitely recommend checking his blog out.
