The Pac-10 schedule is light today. The lone conference game is the highlight.
Arizona at UCLA: We saw bad UCLA last week so we’ll see good UCLA today. Arizona allowed 36 points to New Mexico so the Bruins should be able to score at least two points this afternoon. Seriously, the game will be close but UCLA will be better at the Rose Bowl. Arizona showed last week it doesn’t play well on the road. UCLA 27, Arizona 24
Georgia at Arizona State: A week ago, this game featured two top-15 squads. Georgia was sloppy in its SEC opener last week at South Carolina, winning only by a 14-7 margin. ASU was shocked at home by lightly-regarded UNLV, 23-20, in overtime. The Sun Devils are no longer nationally ranked. They’ll be motivated tonight but the Bulldogs are a better team. Rudy Carpenter won’t be able to handle the Georgia defense. Georgia 27, Arizona State 17
Boise State at Oregon: This year’s Bronco team isn’t as good as the one that won the Fiesta Bowl two years ago. Ian Johnson is still the BSU running back but he’s had trouble staying healthy. The Ducks should maintain their unbeaten record. Oregon 34, Boise State 14
San Jose State at Stanford: Longtime coach Dick Tomey is slowly establishing a beachhead in San Jose. Having two Pac-10 teams within close proximity can’t help his recruiting efforts but northern California has a lot of available talent. Speaking of talent, Stanford will simply have too much of talent tonight. The Cardinal needs to play better against the Spartans than it did last week against Texas Christian. Stanford 31, San Jose State 12
Portland State at Washington State: Jerry Glanville is the coach at Portland State. You may remember him from his days coaching the Atlanta Falcons and the Houston Oilers. Perhaps from his stint as a broadcaster before June Jones enticed him to be defensive coordinator at Hawaii a few years ago. Glanville is in his second year at the I-AA school. WSU needs a win desperately. At least, PSU’s nickname is the Vikings rather than the Bears. The Cougars lost to California, 66-3, and Baylor, 45-17. Washington State 31, Portland State 30
California off: Next game, home against Colorado State, Sept. 27
Oregon State off: Next game, home against USC, Sept. 25
USC off: Next game, at Oregon State, Sept. 25
Washington off: Next game, home against Stanford, Sept. 27

Tyson, you did not miss the Georgia game that much. Good call.
I thought Arizona State would be a little more competitive. Rudy Carpenter couldn’t get anything going against the Georgia defense. Mark Richt was kind to leave the ball on the Sun Devil one-yard line as the game ended. I hope the point spread wasn’t between 17 and 20.
