I’ve found they really help to keep me away from junk and fast food, though some definitely taste better than others.
We’ve tried all the standard ones, and I must admit I always enjoy the ones my fiancee calls “protein candy bars” or “Snickers with more protein”.
He’s better at sacrificing taste for better nutrition, but we have found a few that satisfy both, and the new VPX Zero Impact Bars we tried do exactly that.
They taste great, but they don’t spike your blood sugar, and they don’t contain many of the junk chemicals that some of the lower quality bars do.
I didn’t really like the PB&J flavor, mostly because it didn’t remind me of peanut butter and jelly at all, but I really like the Peanut Butter Chocolate and Original Pumpkin Supreme Flavors.
We got them from America’s Nutrition, where they’re only about $2 per bar.
These low carb meal replacement bars definitely made my favorites list, and we’ll both be working them into the rotation.

These bars are convenient. The temptation is to eat them when you are not working out simply because it’s easy! I will have to look out for these, all of the ones I’ve tried have that ‘Snickers’ effect you mention.
thank you so much for sharing this information with us, it is pretty interesting.
Seems like a tasty snack for diet! I hope it tastes like Snickers lol! Thanks for the wonderful share Alley.
Have you tried raw food bar? It’s fantastic and low on glucose. But you are so young and pretty and so you probably can consume more sugar than the rest of us. Thanks for this very informative article.
Very interesting. Thanks for sharing
a useful article for me. thanks for sharing
The biggest challenge with choosing a protein bar is that balance between taste and content. Most are either too much like candy, others too much like eating mulch. I recall seeing an episode of Good Eats where Alton Brown showed how easy it was to make protein bars at home that tasted great, contained your choice of proteins and flavor, and were a fraction of the cost of store bought. No preservatives.

The low carb / low sugar meal replacement bars can taste anywhere from awful to like a treat and so far, the best I have tried are Myoplex Diet Bars in Choc Nut flavour, Maximuscle Promax Diet Bars in Dark choc flavour and CNP Pro Flapjacks in Chocolate Orange flavour. You should watch out though, cos some bars are a real workout for your jaws as they are chewy as anything.
also try luna bars for women they r for women but taste great and wont go 2 ur butt!
